Today I’m sharing my December 2017 goals. It’s hard to believe that there’s so little time left in 2017. The year has flown by!
Before I get into my goals for December, I want to recap how I did with November’s goals.
7 hours of sleep 5 days per week.
I thought this goal was going to be harder than it actually was. I ended up achieving it pretty easily. Between some family stress and preparing for my Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology exam that I took yesterday, my stress level was pretty high for November. Whenever I’m stressed my sleep usually suffers. I’m so glad that that wasn’t the case in November though. I think there were a few things that I did diligently throughout the month that helped:
- Going to bed at a decent time.
- Doing my bedtime routine so my mind knew it was time to start winding down.
- Being consistent in when I woke up, even on weekends.
- Avoiding electronics before bed.
- Reading before bed.
Practice self-care each day.
I also rocked this goal. I managed to do some form of self care each day so far of November. Whether that was meditating, going to a coffee shop with a good book and reading, putting on a facial mask, texting with friends, or asking my boyfriend for a shoulder rub, I did something each day that was good for my well being. It felt pretty good to be so “good” to myself instead of always expecting myself to be studying or working on my blog, or doing something productive. I realized how much pressure I put on myself, and that I need to give myself some grace sometimes.
And now for my December goals:
Read three books this month.
With all the studying lately, there hasn’t been a whole lot of reading for fun except right before bed for 20 or 30 minutes. The plan is to get through a few books this month and reignite my love for reading. It helps me get away from the everyday stuff going on and escape for a bit, which is always nice. I’m currently reading Woman with a Secret by Sophie Hannah (affiliate link) for a book club that I’ve just joined.
Be more consistent with my workouts
My workouts haven’t been as consistent as I would have liked over the last few weeks. I tend to go to the gym 3 or 4 days in a row and then don’t get back for a few days. I’d like to go 5 days per week in December.
