Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Did anyone else’s week fly by too? I swear it was Tuesday just yesterday. I swear time seems go to by faster the closer it gets to the end of the year.

Today I’m at a first aid re-certification course. Thankfully it’s only one day of class because it’s a re-certification compared to two days of class if I’d let my first aid expire. While first aid isn’t very exciting it’ll be nice to have a refresher. You never know when you’ll need to put that knowledge into action.

This weekend will include a lot of studying as I scheduled my Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology exam to become a personal trainer for the end of the month. I’m feeling confident that I know what I’ll be tested on, but I’ll be in full on study mode nonetheless. I’ll be doing the exam on a computer, which is a bit out of my comfort zone. I’m definitely more comfortable with a pencil and paper, but I did do a few exams in university on computers, so I do have some experience with it. I’m hoping I get less nervous as the day gets closer.

And now onto my usual Friday Favorites!

Kate Somerville Retinol Firming Eye Cream

Kate Somerville Retinol Firming Eye Cream

I discovered the Kate Somerville Retinol Firming Eye Cream in a Sephora favorites night time skincare box that I had bought a couple weeks ago. Although I only got a travel sized tube of it in the box, I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I really do think it’s made a difference in the skin around my eyes. While I don’t see myself buying the full sized version ($100 is a lot of money for me), I really have enjoyed using it. I’m on the look out for something similar at a more affordable price point, so I’m open to suggestions if you have any!

Snow on the trees

We got another blast of winter over the last few days. It’s not too cold, but we’ve gotten a bunch of snow. While it makes for less than ideal driving conditions (traffic is slow and there’s lots of slippery spots at stop signs and lights), it is really pretty on the trees. In some spots is almost doesn’t even look real because it’s so beautiful. We have a little park with a walking path at the end of our street. With the snow on the trees, it’s so pretty and you feel like you’re a million miles away from the city. Winter can be pretty long, cold, snowy, and depressing. To get through it I have to make a conscious effort to see the good things in it, which includes the pretty trees.

Birthday messages from family and friends

Like I mentioned in my last post, Tuesday was my birthday. I got birthday cards along with texts and messages from both my family and friends. It really reminded me how loved and cared for I am. I’m so lucky to have those supportive people around me. While I was texting with one friend I realized that we’ve known each other for 20 years now. That seems like forever! I’m so grateful that I so many great memories with her over the years.

Party of Five

Party of Five on Netflix

I discovered earlier this week that all 6 seasons of Party of Five are on Netflix, so I’ve been watching that and Mad Men this week. Does anyone else remember watching Party of Five as a teen? I used to think that Scott Wolf was so cute and I pretty much wanted to be Julia. I don’t think I remember any of the story lines, so I’m kind of excited to be watching it again. I do remember than it pretty much launched the careers of Neve Campbell and Jennifer Love Hewitt though.

Are there any teen shows from the 90’s that you’d watch again? What’s your favorite eye cream?
