As usual for Fridays here on GFF, I’m sharing my favorites from the last week.

Friday Favorites

The Influencer Podcast // I’m a huge fan of podcasts, I discovered them a few years ago, and I haven’t looked back. Since I’m able to listen to them at work, I’m always on the look out for new ones to enjoy. I heard about The Influencer Podcast on someone’s Instagram stories (I can’t remember who it was unfortunately). While I’ve only listened to two episodes so far, but I’ve really enjoyed both of them. If you’re a fellow blogger I’d suggest giving it a listen. Blogging can be a very solitary thing sometimes, but hearing from other people who are in the same space is reassuring that we all experience similar things.

Getting in enough sleep // I’m not quite sure what it is, but my sleep has been so good this week. I’ve been close to getting 8 hours each night, and let me tell you, it makes such a difference in how I feel the next day – everything from how much I get done to my mood. For the last few months I’ve really been making an effort to improve my sleep hygiene (going to bed at the same time every night, reading instead of scrolling through Instagram before bed, etc.). I’m glad that it’s paying off.

It // I’ve always been a Stephen King fan, and I’ve read quite a few of his books. (The Shining is still my all time favorite – it’s just so creepy). One of his books that I haven’t read over the years was It. With the new movie out, I decided that it was time to finally give it a try. I’m about 400 pages in – it’s almost 1200 pages, but so far it wasn’t been very scary. For those of you who have read it, does it get scarier? On the flip side I love his books because you get to know his characters so well. I love hearing about the backstory for each person, and learning what makes them tick.

Etsy Made in Canada Calgary

Etsy Made in Canada // Last Friday I was able to attend Etsy Made in Canada. Creators and artists who sell on Etsy who are based in and around Calgary were all in one physical location. It was so cool to see how much talent there is in Calgary, because there were so many creative and beautiful things on display. Everything from edible stuff (tea, honey) to photography, baby stuff, and even terrariums was for sale. This was my second year going, and I’m so glad I went again. It was a lot of fun talking to the vendors about their products and to hear about how their creative process. I ended up finding a Christmas gift for my dad (that goes perfectly with the gift that I got him last year) and the best birthday card for my boyfriend. I even found a little something for myself. Apparently the organizers of this event are planning to put on another one closer to Christmas, so if you’re in Calgary keep your eyes out for it in November.

Great workouts at the gym (and friendly people) // This week I did two great workouts at the gym. The first one was awesome because I upped the resistance on the elliptical and it wasn’t as hard as I was expecting it to. It always feels good when something fitness related is easier than you were expecting. My other workout was better than they usually are because it sped by. I included some intervals in it (which I haven’t used much lately). Thankfully they made my time on the elliptical feel like half the time I was actually on there.

I also tried a new group fitness class at my gym. While it was a class that I would typically enjoy, there was just something about it that was lackluster. However, the other participants in the class were awesome and more than made up for it. One lady and I started talking at the end of the class. She gave me the details on the class since she was a regular, and then we chatted a bit about fitness in general. I’m typically one of those people who puts my earphones in while I’m in the change room and don’t take them off again until I’m back in the change room after I’ve finished my workout, but it was really nice to connect with some fellow gym goers this week.
