Is anyone else glad it’s Friday? This week has been hot here in Calgary, so working outside has been interesting. I’ve been spending as much time as possible in the shade to keep from overheating. Since it’s Friday, I’ll be sharing my Friday Favorites post.
Laidback Acoustic channel on Spotify // A few weeks ago I shared about a coffee house playlist on Spotify. This week I discovered another favorite. Laidback Acoustic channel is perfect for studying or working on blog posts. Because this playlist is all acoustic covers, the songs are familiar but don’t distract me as much as the originals do for some reason. I highly recommend it if you’re a Spotify user.
Risk Android app // One of my favorite apps on my new phone is Risk. I used to love playing that game, even though it took like what seemed like forever most times. With the app I can choose different maps, skill levels for me and the “computer”. I find myself playing it during commercials when I’m watching TV or when I have a few minutes of downtime. If you like strategy games, I highly recommend that you check it out.
Headspace app // Another app that I’ve been enjoying lately is Headspace. It takes you through guided meditations. I typically do them right before bed. It definitely helps me relax and quiet my mind. I sometimes have a tough time slowing down my thoughts when I can’t sleep, and these meditations help with that. I’m still working through some of the free meditations, but once I’m done them I’m planning on subscribing.
Rolling out my back // Speaking of bedtime, I’ve also been rolling out my back with a tennis ball against a wall a couple times a week. I avoid rolling directly on my spine, and instead do one side of my back from top to bottom, and then do the other side from top to bottom. Whenever I find a tender spot I pause and let the tennis ball do it’s work in that spot for a 15 or 20 seconds. Since my job is very hands on, I tend to be tighter on one side than I am on the other, and I’m finding that rolling my back out is starting to help with this.
What’s a favorite of yours from the last week?
