Happy Monday! This weekend flew by for me, as it was my last weekend on break between semesters. Classes start today and I’m strangely looking forward to it – probably because it’s my last semester before I graduate. Just two short months between me and graduation. Woohoo! Today I thought I’d recap my weekend and share what I was up to.
Friday morning I hit up Social Media Breakfast. It’s held once a month at a different venue with a different speaker. This month it was at Trolley 5, a relatively new brewpub downtown that I hadn’t been to before. The food was delicious (fresh fruit, homemade croissant, and jam). I’ll definitely be back for a pint of beer and a meal. The topic for the morning was gamification. It was great to see some familiar faces as well as meet a few new people. Calgary has a pretty awesome social media scene.
I ended up deciding to park further away from Trolley 5 and walk through downtown. My route took me through Central Memorial Park, my favorite park downtown. There’s a fountain, lots of pretty flowers, and benches.
I ended up going to a mall on Saturday morning to get a few things. Although I was also looking for a pair of shoes, I didn’t find any (having big feet – size 10.5 or 11 is a huge pain – no one ever carries those sizes). I did find a few things for summer and some jewelry though.
My first stop was at Old Navy. I picked up this shirt in a light green color. It’ll be perfect on hot summer days while still looking put together. I also bought two necklaces that unfortunately I can’t find on the Old Navy website to share.
I was so close to getting this top (affiliate link) because I loved the shade of blue, but they didn’t have it in my size. Boo. I almost bought this clutch (affiliate link) too, but I decided against it because the only color they had it in was white, and I’m not good with light colored clothing/accessories. I always manage to ruin it.
A few summers ago I found my absolute favorite pair of capris at Ricki’s. They were the perfect length and comfortable. I wore them all the time. I knew that they were nearing their end, and finally at the end of last summer I found a hole in them after I washed them. I tried going back to Ricki’s to find another pair of capris that summer, but the only similar ones they had fit completely different – and not in a good way.
Needless to say that I was super excited when I tried on another pair of capris on Saturday morning and they were just like my old favorites. If you’re in Canada and looking for a comfortable and light pair of capris, definitely check out Ricki’s. I also found this top. I love square necklines, and the crochet gives it a bit of character too. I actually ended up ordering a few more things online when I got home that they didn’t have in my size at the store.
Once I was done at the mall I headed over to the Symons Valley farmer’s market where I picked up some vegetarian curry from my favorite vendor and some multi grain bread for another vendor who was there for the first time. The bread was delicious, so I have a feeling I’ll be stopping by for something else next week.
Saturday night was date night. My boyfriend and I decided on making homemade pizza for dinner. I went with red bell pepper, onion, and ham in addition to the usual pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese on mine. The crust was thin so I got that perfect crunch with every bite that I took. We then watched a couple episodes of the White Rabbit Project.
Sunday was a pretty low key day. I spent it at home for the most part getting ready for the week, including doing laundry and making some food. The first week of the semester is always a little crazy with getting books and getting situated with classes, so I wanted to be as prepared as possible.
