I can’t be the only one who’s surprised that it’s already October. It feels like just a couple weeks ago it was the middle of summer. I’m looking forward to cooler weather, cozy sweaters, and hot apple cider.
School has been a big adjustment for me from working during the summer. I’m feeling pretty stressed out with my schedule and workload. I’m at school from 10 am to 8:30 pm Mondays and Wednesdays. Unfortunately I don’t have any breaks long enough to be able to come home. Mondays and Wednesdays I have two classes where we might be in the gym working out. While I love not being in a classroom, we’ve had a few days already where we’ve had two workouts, which is definitely tiring. Factoring in the commute to and from school, it makes long days. By the time I get home I’m exhausted. Needless to say my stress level is high and I know that this isn’t sustainable until the end of the semester. As a result my goals for October will focus on wellness and taking care of myself.
My first goal for October will be to attend a yoga class once a week. I haven’t been very regular in my practice lately and I want to get back to it. I always leave sweaty from a great workout but at the same time much less stressed out than when I walked into class. I get so many benefits from it, but it’s been tough to get myself motivated to go to class. Once a week is doable, and will also help with the stress. The Friday night restorative class at the Yoga Shala is one of my favorites.
As you can tell, I haven’t been blogging as much since school started. It’s hard to find time to fit it in between classes and homework. The week flies by in a blur and before I realize it I’ve only written one post. I’m hoping that with a little prep work over the weekend I’ll be able to get back to posting three times a week. I’m actually scheduling this post on Sunday and I have part of Wednesday’s post ready to go. I’m hoping that once I’m back in the swing of things it’ll be easier to stay on track.
My last goal for the month is to go to bed earlier. I’m one of those people who needs a solid eight hours of sleep every night. Without it I’m grumpy and I find it harder to concentrate throughout the day. Since I have to be up early during the week, that means going to bed early too. Sunday to Thursday nights I’m committing to being in bed by 10 pm. I know getting enough sleep will also help with feeling stressed out, so it’s a win-win situation.
Now that you know about the goals I want to achieve this month, leave a comment below with one of yours.
