How is it already the first day of August? Since I start back up at school in September it feels like I only have one more month of summer left. How did July go by so darn fast?

August Goals

Before I dive into my August goals, I’ll do a quick recap of my July goals.

The first thing I wanted to do was workout outside. I’ll say that I half completed this goal. I did end up spending a lot of time outside in July, but not all of it was for working out specifically. I did lots of hikes and walks. While I was in Vancouver I walked everywhere, so I got in a ton of steps over and above 10.000 per day. Β While it wasn’t exactly what I planned, I did enjoy being ative in the outdoors.

I also wanted to be in bed with the light off by 10 pm most nights. I definitely completed this goal. Even if I don’t have to be at work or school first thing in the morning I’m an early rise. It’s rare that I sleep in past 7 am. It’s just the way that my body works. Because of the early wake up times that means that I’m in bed relatively early. During the summer that tends to change a bit though because it’s tough to fall sleep while it’s still light out. This leads to later nights and me being grumpy in the morning because I didn’t get enough sleep. I was able to stick with my schedule though and with the exception of a few nights my light was off by 10 pm.

My third goal for July was to go to yoga once a week. I completely failed with this goal. I had planned to go to one class at the beginning of July, but something came up and I ended up not being able to make it. To be honest that was the only class I even planned to go to, and this goal kind of got lost after that.

The last goal that I wanted to achieve was to limit sweets to just twice per week. I have a huge sweet tooth, so I knew it was going to be tough. I managed to accomplish it for two week in July – and one of those was even while I was on vacation in Vancouver. I’d like to make less sweets a habit (I usually eat way too many), so I’ve decided to carry over this goal to August.

My other goal for this month is to limit eating out to twice per week. I’ve gotten in the habit lately of eating out more than I’d like. While it’s convenient to go out for dinner or pick something up on the way home from work, it’s definitely not as healthy as making something at home and it’s also hard on the budget.

What are your goals for August?

The eating out thing is tough. especially when it’s a socializing thing.
