Happy long weekend! Yesterday was Canada Day here. Although I didn’t do anything specifically to celebrate, I did go out to dinner with my boyfriend for date night. He was craving barbecue so we ended up walking over to Booker’s. I’d never been there before, but he loves their brisket sandwich. They serve southern barbecue, so it smelled amazing as soon as we walked in the door. I forgot to take a photo of the fish and chips that I ordered, but it was delicious. I tried a bite of his jalapeno mac and cheese side dish. Surprisingly, it was more smoky than spicy and I actually liked it.
I know it’s also a long weekend for my readers in the US for Independence Day. I hope you’re all spending the extra day off with friends and family! Now on to my workouts from this week.
Sunday I had plans to meet some friends for brunch. I was feeling unmotivated to get up early to workout beforehand, so I skipped my workout. (Brunch was delicious in case you were wondering.)

Monday I decided to do a kickboxing workout from Grokker (affiliate link). By the time I was done the 40 minute workout I exhausted and a sweaty mess. I don’t know what it was about this particular workout, but I put in 110%. I’ll definitely be doing it again.
Tuesday I didn’t sleep very well the night before because I had a final at 9 am, so I decided to skip my workout to get an extra hour of sleep.

Wednesday I had another final at 9 am so instead of a morning workout I went for an evening walk by the river. The weather was perfect – not too hot but warm enough to be outside without a jacket. We ended up coming across a beaver, which was pretty cool. He was on the other side of a fence chewing on a stick.
Thursday I went for another walk today. I wasn’t feeling an at home workout, so I took advantage of the beautiful weather and went for a walk before an afternoon thunderstorm. Thankfully I made it home just before it started pouring.

Friday I did another Grokker (affiliate link) workout – this time a 30 minute HIIT workout. My glutes were burning from all the squats (and my legs are sore today). It was kind of nice to only need a pair of dumbbells for this workout. The less equipment the better when I’m working out at home.
Saturday I have plans to go for another walk tonight. I’m going out for an early dinner with my boss and coworker to celebrate a birthday. On the way home I’m planning on stopping by my favorite park.
