What a week! I feel like I’ve been going non-stop since Monday. Although my classes are done for the most part, I had two finals this week on Thursday and Friday. Needless to say, there’s been a lot of studying happening, both at home and in the library. I have one more final to go in Friday, but I have 6 whole days to study for it, which I’m very grateful for.
I’m one of those people who has to be as active as possible while studying. That means that I have to be highlighting to rewriting things for them to stick. If I have to memorize a list I’ll figure out a way to remember the first letter of each item so that it’s easier to recall on a test. I can’t just reread powerpoints and notes – it just don’t remember things that way. I also tend to get test anxiety, though I’ve worked really hard on dealing with it this semester. I’m very happy to say that it’s the best it’s been in a long time. My marks on midterms and finals now reflect the fact that I know the material and not just my anxiety about being in a testing situation.
On the way home from my final yesterday I stopped by the liquor store to pick up a few beverages to celebrate with. Needless to say, I didn’t drink them all last night (I ended up only having 2), but it was a great way to end a couple of stressful days. I went with Stiegl Radlers and Somersby Blackberry Apple Cider. They’re both favorites of mine, so I decided on them instead of trying something new.
Today has been pretty low key so far. I’ve done some laundry as well as some blogging stuff that I’ve put off because finals. I think I’m finally caught up though so that feels good. I offered to take my dad out for lunch at one of this favorite places – Gruman’s. I know I’ve mentioned it before on the blog, but it’s a Jewish deli with all kinds of delicious smoked meat creations. I decided on their reuben sandwich which was just as tasty as usual. The portions are always generous, so because of how much meat they managed to get in the sandwich it was a little messy to eat. It’s always seems like it’s the messiest foods that are the tastiest.
One more thing before I end this post – are any of you listening to the Tanis or Limetown podcasts? I’m now officially obsessed with both of them and literally can’t wait for new episodes. If you’re at all interested in mysteries with a little paranormal thrown in highly recommend them.
Now that you’re caught up on what the last few days have been like for me, leave a comment below with the highlight of your week.
