The weeks seem to be flying by now that there’s only a few weeks left in the semester. It’s kind of nice to be counting down in weeks now instead of months. I think everyone at school – students and professors – are feeling kind of antsy and ready for the semester to be over.
My dad loved Phil and Sebastian coffee. They’re a local business who buys small batch coffee beans from independent farmers in South America and Africa. The coffee beans are roasted here in Calgary, and then sold at their cafes. There’s a few restaurants in the city who also serve their coffee (that’s how my dad discovered it). Phil and Sebastian opened a new cafe downtown at a building that was renovated in a part of downtown that they’re trying to revitalize. He hadn’t been down yet, so the two of us went to check it out.
While I didn’t get a coffee (I actually don’t like coffee), but dad got one and a pastry and said they were both delicious. I have a feeling the next time he’s downtown he’ll be making his way over to Phil and Sebastian.
I can’t remember why we were talking about this in class, but one of my profs mentioned Spotify. I think the last time I checked it out it wasn’t available in Canada. But since she said she used it I thought I’d check it out again. I’ve been using it for the last couple days and I have to admit that I’m really liking it. I’m using the free version, but I totally thought that there would have been more ads. It’s kind of nice to have access to songs that I don’t have on my iTunes. I know I’m probably the last one to give it a try, but I’m really liking it so far.
For my communication class I have to give a ten minute speech. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to talk about because our prof said we could decide to talk about absolutely anything. Finally ashtanga yoga popped into my head and I knew I had my topic. I really don’t enjoy public speaking, but I’m actually really looking forward to this. Maybe it’s because I’ll be speaking about something that I’m passionate about, or that I feel confident that I can answer any questions that I might be asked, but even though I’ll be talking in front of 20 people I’m kind of excited.
I went to a meetup this week just outside of downtown on Wednesday night. Because it’s usually tough to find parking I took the train and walked over from the station. On the way back to the station after the even was done I came across a really pretty view of downtown. I always seem to forget how pretty downtown is at night with all the lights.
I’m glad the weekend is finally here. I was invited to a friend’s birthday party tonight, but instead of celebrating with her I’ll be working. My bank account will appreciate it, but I sure wish I could be wishing her a happy birthday instead. I also have an assignment I have to work on at some point over the weekend. I’m hoping to fit in a date with my boyfriend as well.
