August kind of feels like the last unofficial month of summer to me. I start school the first week of September. I always associate going back to school with the start of fall. Before I know it the sun will be going down closer to dinner time, the mornings will be cooler, and the leaves will be turning colors.
Before all that happens though I want to make sure that I enjoy August as much as I can and get as many “summer” things done as I can. Here are the goals I want to crush in August.
Get to bed earlier. With the sun being up so late, it’s tough to get myself to bed when I’d like. There’s nothing worse than laying in bed thinking about how you should be asleep but can’t sleep. I’m an early morning person, and have found that I get a lot more accomplished early in the day rather than in the evenings. I’d love to make getting up at 5 am a habit again, but before I can do that, I need to get myself going to bed at a decent time on a regular basis.
Complete the Go Independent course. I know I’ve mentioned Regina of byregina.com before. (If you’re a blogger/creative/entrepreneur you should check her out.) Well this month she’s running a course all about taking your side hustle or business to the next level and growing it. Although I don’t plan on making blogging my full time job, I would love to take it up a notch and make more money from it. I’ve learned quite a bit already and it’s only day 4, so I’m pretty excited. The next couple weeks before my final are going to be hectic with all the studying I need to get done, but I’m committing to making sure that I get all the worksheets done and videos watched for Go Independent.
Figure out my volunteering for the fall. It’s been a year and a half since I last did any sort of volunteering. Giving back is important for me, so I want to get back at it. I’m anticipating that things will quiet down a little bit once school starts, so I want to make sure I figure out where I want to volunteer. I’ve narrowed it down to a few options. One would be an ongoing commitment a few times a month for an organization I’ve had some experience with in the past. The other one would be a few times over the next couple months, but for a cause that’s really important to me. I want to make up my mind and get in contact with the agency by the end of August.
I thought I’d also share some of my favorite posts from July here on the blog.
Now that you know the goals I’m working on in August, share one of yours.
Right there with you. August always feels like the end of summer which makes me sad. I’m not ready for the weather to turn yet! I love those goals and will agree that going to bed earlier would be a great one for me! I will have to check out Regina’s stuff, thanks for the recommendation!
Love the idea of getting back into volunteering. I was actually thinking the same thing today – it’s so easy to get into the busy swing of things and I want to carve out more time to volunteer. Thanks for sharing your goals!
