Is it just me or has it felt like this week has gone by in the blink of an eye for anyone else too? With work and starting my new class I haven’t had much time to blog, so it’s been quite about here. Because I have so much to share I thought I’d play catch up today.

Studying May 10 2015

First off, I started my anatomy class on Monday. I was considering doing both anatomy and physiology, but know that I’ve started the class, I’m really glad I didn’t. It’s lots of work. In the last week I’ve read four chapters, and have another one to do tomorrow. The pace is pretty quick and I know now that there’s no way I’d be able to do twice the studying while still working. On the bright side though I’m learning lots of really interesting stuff. It’s pretty cool to learn how everything in your body works together to make sure it’s functioning how it should be.

In addition to studying, I’ve been picking up as many extra shifts as I can at both my jobs. With school starting in September (and a hefty tuition payment coming up) as well as my vacation, I’ve been wanting to earn as much as cash as I can before the fall gets here. I’ve been averaging 7 or 8 shifts a week lately, so I’ve definitely been busy.

My vacation is almost here! It’s been three years since I was last able to get out of Calgary overnight, so I’m pretty excited. I’m leaving for Vancouver on Wednesday and coming back on Saturday. While it’ll be short, I’m going to enjoy every single second of it. My hotel is pretty central, so it’s within walking distance of all kinds of cool stuff. I know I definitely want to hit up Granville Island, a couple beaches, and the Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. Vancouver is such a pretty city and I want to take in as much of it’s natural beauty as I can.

The U2 concert is Thursday night. It still hasn’t sunk in yet that I’m going to see them live. Needless to say that over the last few weeks I’ve been listening to lots and lots of U2. Did anyone else catch them on Jimmy Fallon the other night?

I wouldn’t be a good Calgarian if I didn’t mention the Flames. They’re playing game 5 against Anaheim tonight, and it’s a do or die game. If the Flames lose tonight they’re eliminated from the playoffs and the Ducks advance to round 3. As much as I want Calgary to win tonight, I’m not sure if they’ll be able to pull it off. They’ve been outplayed by Anaheim a lot during this round. But, the Flames were never expected to make the playoffs this year, so the fact that they’ve made it this far has been an awesome surprise.

And finally, happy Mother’s Day to all the great mom’s out there. I know we spoiled my mom today and made sure she knows how loved and appreciated she is.

How did you celebrate Mother’s Day? Are you planning a vacation this summer?
