Thanks to Jenn at Peas and Crayons for hosting What I Ate Wednesday.
I switched it up a bit from my usual when it came to breakfast. I went with a toasted sesame bagel from Wayne’s Bagels. They’re known here in Calgary for their Montreal style bagels. Their reputation is well deserved because they’re so good! I also had vanilla yogurt and some chopped fruit. One of my favorite fruits is pineapple, so I somehow always end up with a few extra pieces of it. I may or may not do it on purpose.
Lunch was pretty easy to put together once I got home from work. I cut up some mozzarella cheese, a couple slices of pepperoni, a handful of strawberries, and added some crackers. It wasn’t fancy but it hit the spot. These were the first strawberries that I’d had in a very long time. While they weren’t spectacular (we won’t get really good ones here til the summer), it was still pretty nice to have them again after so long.
For dinner we whipped up a homemade pizza. The dough was already in made and in the freezer, so all we had to do was thaw it. I added some pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese to my half, while the other half got pizza sauce, kalamata olives, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses.
While I tried a bite of the other half of the pizza, I have to admit that I liked my plain cheese more. Sometimes it’s nice to go back to basics and just enjoy something as simply as possible. The pizza dough was awesome. It was on the thinner side which I really like. It was also perfectly cooked through to the middle without the edges getting burnt.
Leave me a comment with your favorite pizza toppings.
