Can you believe that it’s already Monday morning? And the second last day of March? The weekend/month/year has been flying by. It’s kind of a good thing though because it feels like winter is almost over (I know we’ll be getting more snow here) and spring is just around the corner. The trees are starting to bud and the grass is starting to green. Plus Easter is the weekend! How did that happen?
Friday I worked both jobs, so I was tired by the time I got home. Needless to say I was in my PJ’s early and spent the night watching TV on the couch and reading in bed. It feels like I’m constantly on the go during the week, so by the time I get a chance to slow down I really slow down.
Saturday my boyfriend and I got together for lunch. We almost had brunch instead, but realized that there was a thin crust pizza place next door to the restaurant we were planning on going to. In the time it took to wait for the light to change and cross the street we’d both decided that we wanted pizza instead so we went to Amantea.
It was a good choice because the pizza was really good. Although it was thin crust the middle wasn’t soggy like it can sometimes get. I went with prosciutto on mine, and he got veggies on his. Although they were individually sized they were big enough that I had leftovers to take home with me on enjoy on Sunday for lunch. I wish I had take a photo of the pizzas cause they were delicious!
Sunday morning I went to the farmer’s market. I was brave and tried a medium spicy curry from the guy I usually get curry from. I surprised myself and actually liked it, so I got a container of that to eat this week. He said he puts different veggies in his curries, so it’ll be nice to switch it up a bit.
After lunch I headed out to the Oak tree Tavern to meet some ladies from NerdLab YYC. There’s always a great group of ladies who turn up for NerdLab events, so if you’re in Calgary, I’d encourage you to check it out. Sunday’s meetup was for crafting and drinks. Cross stitch was the most popular, as 3 or 4 of us brought that to do. I discovered a new to me cider while I was there. I tried a Savanna cider, which was really good. It comes from South Africa and is a dry cider instead of being sweet. I’d definitely get it again.
Sunday night I spent some time watching Madam Secretary and The Good Wife. So much good TV on Sunday nights! I love the international story lines on Madam Secretary, plus I think Tea Leoni is a great actress. The Good Wife always has the best guest stars. Last night it was Ed Asner.
Leave me a comment with the highlight of your weekend.
I understand the feeling of wanting low key and relaxing weekends. Those are my favourite! That pizza place sounds yummy. I’ll have to check it out!
The highlight of my weekend? Hmmm, there weren’t many, it was quite rough. I did run 20 miles on a treadmill and it sucked. But it felt great after it was done!
