I finished my first book of 2015 this week – The Bride Worse Size 12 by Meg Cabot. I won’t mention the fact that I read 75% of it in 2014 though. This is the last book in the Heather Wells series. I’m not going to lie, I’m kind of sad it’s over now. There was a happy ending though (as you can probably tell by title), so that did help a little. I know Meg Cabot has another 1 or 2 adult series, so I’m probably going to check one out the next time I’m at the library.
If you’re not Canadian you may not know that the IIHF World Juniors have been playing the last couple weeks. It’s a hockey tournament for male hockey players 20 years old or younger. It’s a HUGE deal here in Canada. When the tournament is being played in Europe people get up at all hours of the night to watch the games live here in Canada. It’s pretty cool to see some of the best young players before they’re playing in the NHL.
Canada dominated the tournament in the mid nineties and late 2000’s, but they hadn’t won since 2009. One by one they eliminated teams, and it came down to playing Russia for the gold medal. At one point Canada was up 5-1, but Russia came back in the second period. The final score was 5-4 Canada. It was a really intense game, the exact sort of thing you expect from some of the best hockey players in the world. Both teams played this hardest and left everything out there on the ice.
I discovered this Clif Bar at the grocery store a week or two, and finally ate it on a break at work. I’m pretty sure this pecan pie flavour is seasonal, as I’ve never seen it before. It was delicious and actually tasted like pecan pie. Obviously the real thing is better, but it definitely hit the spot.
Like many parts of Canada and the US, it’s been incredibly cold and snowy here the last few days. It started snowing last week and finally stopped at some point last night. When the temperatures with the wind chill are in the –30’s, I basically stop caring what I look like as long as I’m warm. I had to take my hood off once I was in the car because I couldn’t see anything in my peripheral vision except fur. Luckily it’s supposed to stop snowing and warm up a bit the next few days, so I’m very happy about that.
Did you do anything exciting this week? Finish any good books lately? Leave me a comment telling me about it.
I just read Wild and The Circle over Christmas and loved them both! I haven’t heard of the Heather Wells series before but the title has intrigued me!
I’m hearing about Wild everywhere right now. It looks interesting. If I decide to see the movie I’ll probably read the book first.
