It’s hard to believe that 2014 is already over. Seriously, how has it already been a year since I was last writing about a year ending and another one beginning?
2014
First off, I worked a ton. So much in fact, that I ended up getting kind of burnt out. From August 2013 to May 2014 I was working three jobs and going to school at the same time. While my bank account was happy and I had the money for tuition, I knew I couldn’t keep up at that pace forever. I now just have two jobs and things are much more manageable. My savings for school might not be growing quite as fast, but I’m a lot less stressed out and have some time for myself now.
I finished two chemistry classes. For someone who doesn’t think mathematically there was a ton of math involved. Really, chemistry is just math in disguise. But I finished it and ended up doing pretty good in both classes. I guess the endless studying paid off in the end. I also learned that I have major exam anxiety. I didn’t do well on either final. I knew the material, but I just wasn’t able to focus and concentrate. I still need to figure out how to fix that.
2014 has been a bumpy road in the friend department. While I don’t have a ton of friends, I’m pretty close to the ones that I do have. A really good friend of mine ended up moving. While I miss her like crazy, we still get together whenever she’s in town. On the bright side I really made an effort to get out and meet some new people this year. In January I went to my very first Chic Geek event, and since then I’ve been to quite a few gatherings and met some great people. While I’m sad that my friend moved, it also meant that I branched out of my introvert self and met some new friends.
In April I went to see Kings of Leon for the second time. They played just as good as they did the first time I saw them. It was a great night out. A couple weeks ago I was lucky enough to get tickets to see U2 on their next tour! In May I’ll be heading to Vancouver to see them live. They’re one of the bands that I’ve wanted to see in concert for a long time, so I’m pretty excited that it’s finally going to happen.
2015
All in all I’m pretty happy when where I am starting 2015. I know this year will have at least a few new beginnings. One of those will be hopefully starting school in September. I’ve applied and still waiting to hear if I got in. I forgot how nerve-wracking waiting for admission can be.
While I’m still not sure what my specific goals will be for 2015, I’m still trying to figure them out. I know I want to increase my fitness. Whether that’s with soccer, yoga, or doing at home workouts, I’m not quite sure yet. At the moment I’m not doing much yoga because of an injury, but I’d love to be able to do more of it. In the mean time I’ve been back doing workouts at home. While they’re not quite as fun for me, it still gets the job done.
I also want to grow this blog. I’ve been slowly but surely making improvements here and there. I was really inspired at Wordcamp back in June and decided I wanted to take my blogging to the next level. I’m hoping to build on the improvements I’ve already made and get a lot more blogging related things off my to do list in 2015.
Leave me a comment telling me about one or two things you want to accomplish in 2015.
