Get Fit Fiona Happy Birthday 3 Years Old

It’s hard for me to believe that Get Fit Fiona has been around for three years already! Although it started out on wordpress.com, In April of 2013 I moved the blog to wordpress.org and really started changing the look of it. I was terrified of making the move, as I’m not a technical computer person, but I’m so happy I finally decided to do it. (For the record, it was a lot easier than I was expecting it to me.)

First off, I want to thank my wonderful readers! If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t be blogging. I love reading your thoughts in the comments and on Twitter. I’m so glad I get to share my workouts and eats with you.

As I’ve looked back over old posts the last week or so it’s amazing how much life has changed since I started blogging. I started out working full time, then deciding to go back to school and picking up a couple more jobs to help pay for school. I’ve met some new friends and stayed in touch with old ones.

The workouts that I like to do have changed a lot too. Although I still like the occasional DVD (Jillian Michaels, Tae Bo), I now have a lot more variety in my workouts. I’ve fallen in love with yoga. Not only is it good for me physically, but it encourages me to slow down mentally as well and be in the moment. I’ve tried barre workouts, and I’m planning on doing more of those in the near future. I’ve spent countless hours outside going for walks and enjoying nature. I’ve found it’s a great way to clear my head.

Not only have my workouts changed, but so have the recipes that I make. I’ve discovered some awesome blogs that post lots of recipes. I’ve made everything from cakes to salads. Some of them have become my favourites, and I never would have found them without the blog.

I’ve also started to discover a pretty awesome community that I didn’t know existed before. I’ve been to a few Chic Geek events so far and I’ve really enjoyed them. Blogging can be a very solitary and sometimes lonely thing to do. But getting together with some like minded ladies has been pretty awesome. I’m very glad I’ve found them.

Lastly, if there’s something you’d like to see more of (or less of) on Get Fit Fiona, let me know. I want to make this the best blog I can, so I’d love to hear your input.

Congratulations! 3 years is pretty impressive. :)

I love that your blog allows you to look back on the things that you’ve accomplished and the things that you’ve changed. I’ve heard really great things about barre workouts, though I haven’t tried them out myself. Do you take classes anywhere or do you have more fun with home-based workouts?

I’ve been to a couple barre classes at the Lulu Lemon at Market Mall. There’s also studios in Inglewood and Kingsland. I’m going to be signing up for Barre 3’s online classes this weekend.

Congrats on 3 years of blogging! Crazy how fast time flies, huh? But I do love how looking back over the years spent blogging we can learn so much about ourselves and see the ways we have grown. I think its so cool how we both fell more in love with yoga and other workouts like barre or simple walks. Hope you have a great Friday and weekend, Fiona!

The time speeds by! I don’t notice it day to day, but looking back at holidays or special events, it seems like they just happened.
