This post is a little late coming, but here it is.
I made brownies this week. It has been awhile since I had made them. They smelled amazing and tasted even better. My usual go to baking items are cookies, but I’m glad I changed it up a bit and went with the brownies.
This cider is so good! If you haven’t tried it yet you need to get yourself to the liquor store to pick some up. I’ve tried all three flavours now (apple, cherry, and pear) and they’re all really good. I’m a little sad that this is a limited edition thing. I know I’m going to want one in a couple months when they won’t be available anymore.
I was at the grocery store this week, and one of the things on my grocery list was mustard. While I was picking it out I found some honey mustard. I hadn’t had it in forever so I got it too. I had forgotten how good it is! I’ve been using it on sandwiches. I added it to this chicken and veggie wrap. It adds just a hint of sweetness. Side note: I always, ALWAYS fill my wraps too full. At this point I don’t think I’ll ever learn.
I finished Escape from Cubicle Nation this week. I’d read Pamela Slim’s other book, Body of Work for a book club, and I liked it so much I wanted to read this one as well. There were so many great ideas in this book. It’s one of those books that you can’t read straight through. I ended up taking a day or two off between some chapters cause there was so much to think about. Considering that I’m going back to school, it felt kind of nice to read about other people deciding to make a career change. It made me feel a little less crazy! If you’re thinking of taking your career in a different direction (even if it’s not working for yourself), I’d definitely recommend checking this book out.
My mom makes the most amazing macaroni and cheese. There’s all kinds of not so good for you things in it, but I only have it a couple times a year, so I figure I can splurge. It’s actually quite a bit of work to make, but it always turns out so delicious. The recipe is from a really old cookbook of hers – it’s probably close to 40 years old!
Do you like nuts or no nuts in your brownies?
