Sunday I went to my very first barre class. Who knew such small movements could burn so much? I was surprised at how tough the workout was. While we didn’t use any weights, the teacher mentioned that in the studio they use hand weights. My arms and legs were burning using just my body weight.
While I was tempted to go to a yoga class Monday night, I was pretty sore from barre the day before, so I decided to go on Tuesday instead. It was my usual beginner ashtanga class. I have a couple teachers who I take the same class from, and it’s always interesting how even though we’re doing the same postures each time, I come out of each class with something different. I know I’ve said this before, but I really do have some of the best yoga teachers.
My back hasn’t been feeling 100%, and since it was so bad a couple months ago, I didn’t want to push it and make it worse. So Thursday afternoon I went for a walk instead of a backyard yoga session. It was hot and sunny out, so I was really glad I put sunscreen on before I left. While it wasn’t too long I had a quick pace going, so I was sweaty by the time I got back to the house.
