A friend of mine had a birthday a few weeks ago. He requested a chocolate chip cookie dough brownies instead of a birthday cake. It was really good (everyone else there thought it was delicious too), so I thought I’d try to recreate it at home. Check out the recipe from Lori over at Recipe Girl here that I used.
Essentially you make a brownie as usual. As soon as I took it out of the oven it smelled so good. Unfortunately my brownie ended up cracking quite a bit. Luckily it didn’t matter too much because the cookie dough layer was going on top. Warm brownies always smell so good! Once it’s cooled to room temperature, you put it in the fridge to firm it up a bit.
Then you make the cookie dough. If you’re anything like me you may have to “test” a little bit of it – strictly for baking purposes of course.
After chilling the cookie dough for a little while you then layer it on top of the brownie. Despite the fact that it was chilled it was still relatively easy to spread out on top of the brownie.
Because there’s not enough chocolate in this recipe already, you add more chocolate chips to the top. It then goes back into the fridge for an hour or two to make cutting it a little easier.
It was a pretty easy recipe to make – the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The only thing I couldn’t find at the grocery store were mini chocolate chips. I used regular sized ones, and it still turned out great. Once again, you can find the recipe for chocolate chip cookie dough brownies here from Recipe Girl.
Did you have a birthday cake or something else on your last birthday?
