I usually go out to the garden every day to water and see how it’s doing. Because I see it so often, it’s hard to notice when things grow – you don’t see a big difference day to day, but you do week to week or month to month. I’m glad I’d doing these garden updates cause it reminds me the garden is growing, even if I don’t always see it.

The beans have really taken off. The runners are running! To be honest I wasn’t expecting them to get that tall. If I plant them again next year I’ll have to figure out another structure to grow them on, cause this one obviously isn’t big enough.

Luckily there’s enough room in the netting for the runners to go sideways. I’m hoping it doesn’t get too full as the summer goes on.

The peas are really enjoying the sunny weather. One has already reached the top, and a couple more are close to it. So far I haven’t seen any blooms on them yet.

The zucchini and butternut squash are slowly but surely growing. A couple flowers have bloomed already, and there’s a couple about to bloom. I’m hoping that means there will be at least as few of each. I remember the plants being bigger this time last year though, so we’ll see how they do.

The tomatoes are coming along too. They’re still relatively small, and there aren’t any flowers yet. I’m hoping they flower soon or else I’m worried the tomatoes won’t have enough time to grow before the frost in September/October.

The lettuce is looking great so far. There’s four different kinds, one being a mix of greens. I’m thinking we’ll be eating fresh lettuce from the garden in the next week or two.

What do you have growing in your garden?
