Friday when I was done at school I headed over to the Greek Festival with my dad. We had first gone a few years ago and had a lot of fun. Because we got there on Friday they were still doing some setting up, but the food was ready to go!
We decided to go with the chicken souvlacki and Greek salad (it’s mostly hidden under the pita). It also came with tatziki (one of my all time favourite dips). Everything was delicious. We also got a plate of potatoes and shared everything. My dad ended up really liking the potatoes. I was teasing him that he’ll have to wait another year before he can get them again.
For dessert we had to go with the baklava. It was sooo amazing! It was perfectly flaky and sweet. It’s a good thing the piece wasn’t any bigger, because we just managed to finish it because it was so rich.
While we were eating we were able to enjoy a little music. The band was doing a sound check so they ran through a few songs. Even though they were still getting things adjusted I thought they sounded great. Really, you can’t go wring with a bouzouki. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who thought that, cause there was a little girl (4 or 5 years old) at the end of our table dancing.
I kind of wish we went later on in the evening. There weren’t many people there while we were there, but I’m sure it would have been a great atmosphere. They had quite a few tv’s set up, and I bet it would have been a fun place to watch Greece play a World Cup game.
