Last week I entered a contest on Instagram to win tickets to Beer Fest. Luckily I was one of the winners and I was told I had 2 tickets waiting for me at the door.
I ended up using them for date night, so when the doors opened on Friday we were ready to try a few of the 700 beers available. It’s a good thing we got there early, cause there were next to no line for the first hour or so. By the time we left though, it was packed.
I mostly went for fruity beers and enjoyed most of them (I think the only one I didn’t like was a blueberry one). It was great to see so many local breweries. I even found out a college in southern Alberta has a brewmaster diploma. Who would have that that would exist?
My favourites were the cinnamon mead from Fallentimer Meadery in Water Valley, the craft fruit beer from Fruli in Belgium, the Rickard’s shandy, and the apple cider by Somersby. I’ll definitely be looking for these the next time I’m at the liquor store.
Have you ever been to a beer tasting? What kind of beer is your favourite?
