Since today is Canada Day it was a long weekend for me. I worked the last long weekend in May, so I made sure to enjoy my extra day off as much as I could.
My weekend started on Friday with dinner at my friends’ house. We had barbequed chicken, salad, and beer. A summer time meal doesn’t get much better than that. Afterwards we hung out in the backyard with their kids and talked. It was a pretty laid back night, but just what I needed.
Saturday I got some errands done. One of the things I needed to get was bug spray, and surprisingly I had to go to three stores before I found any. I might have bought the biggest bottle of it they had. Because of all the rain we’ve had the last few weeks the mosquitoes have been especially bad.
Monday morning I set my alarm for 5:45 so I could get out early for a bike ride. I applied sunscreen and bug spray before headed out. Although it wasn’t a very long ride, by the time I turned around and headed back home my legs were toast. I wasn’t able to go as far as I wanted, but I was tired and sweaty by the time I got back to the house. It was a good workout even though it wasn’t able to do as much as I wanted to. I guess that means I’ll do better next time, right?
I spent some time reading outside in the backyard. We have a couple chairs set up under some trees, so it’s shady most of the time. With the breeze and a good book it was wonderful.
I’m about the end the night by watching Under The Dome. Tonight is the second episode, and I really enjoyed the first one last week. It’s based on a Stephen King book. For the most part I really enjoy his writing, so I thought I’d check it out.
What was the most relaxing thing you did this weekend?
