Things have sort of been a blur since Thursday when the flooding started here in Calgary and Southern Alberta. Even with all the destruction, I’ve been hearing all kinds of stories of people being awesome and helping others. If your interested in helping out, check out this post from Saturday.
Friday I did absolutely nothing. The city was asking people to stay at home because streets and bridges all over the city were being closed, resulting in a lot of congestion. That’s exactly what I did, and I stayed on the couch watching news coverage of the flood.
Saturday morning I headed out to the grocery store to get a few things. I’d heard on the news that people were buying cases of bottled water, bread, and milk. Lines to check out at some grocery stores reached the back of the store. Luckily that wasn’t the case on Saturday when I went. While they were out of bottled water, and there wasn’t much milk or bread left, everything else that I went for they had. My best finds were cherry and vanilla yogurt on sale (it was an awesome deal), and some almonds. I’d been craving them for awhile, so I thought I’d get some. They hit the spot when I got home.
Saturday night I had a babysitting gig. Babysitting is usually either really easy or really tough, and luckily with these kids it was easy. We played a couple games and then watched a movie, and before I knew it it was bed time. The house was positioned perfectly to have an amazing view of the sunset. I only had the phone on my camera to capture it with, so this isn’t the greatest photo. Needless to say the colors in the sky were amazing.
Sunday I hung out with the boyfriend. We ended up at Kinjo for sushi at lunchtime. It was delicious as always.
Sunday night was the last episode of the season for Mad Men. My dad and I like to watch it together, so we decided to channel our inner Don Draper and have Old Fashioned’s while watching it.
Earlier in the afternoon I stopped by the liquor store to get the bourbon and bitters. We had the rest of the ingredients already.
What’s your favourite cocktail?
