Bowmont June 11 2013

Tuesday I went for a walk by myself in Bowmont. I haven’t done that in awhile. As much as I love going for walks with my friend, it’s always kind of nice to put on my ipod and just walk and think. There were lots of pretty things blooming, so it was a really pretty walk.

These Golden Beans were everywhere. They spread, so if there was one, there were lots. Their leaves remind me of sweet peas, although the flowers are different.

There were lots of Wild Roses everywhere. It’s actually the provincial flower. The yellow centre really sets off the pink petals. (Ignore the horrible dandelion in the background.)

I walked to a lookout that has a great view of the neighbourhood on the other side of the river from Bowmont.

All those little white flowers are Solomon’s Seal. They prefer shade over full sun, so you’ll see lots of them clustered under benches where they’re sheltered from the sun. They’re such delicate flowers.

The hillside looks so lush and green! We’ve had a lot of rain the last month or so, so everything is looking really lush. I followed that path all the way into the distance. It’s one of my favourite routes because I usually don’t see anyone on it. It almost feels like I have the park all to myself.

This bush was absolutely gorgeous with all the pink flowers on it.

On the way down to waterfall valley I saw some Sticky Purple Geranium. I forgot how pretty they are.

One of these days I need to take my real camera with me to take some photos. All of these were taken with my phone, and it’s just not the same. I guess that’s just another excuse to go for another walk sooner rather than later, right?

What’s your favourite wildflower?
