The boot camp I’m participating in has workouts, but also has the flexibility for me to sub in something else if I want. If I don’t have the time for strength training and cardio, and I go for a walk with a friend instead. If I want to take a scheduled workout day off, I can do that.
Yesterday morning I got up early to get my workout in, but realized I didn’t check out the strength training part of it the night before. I like to make sure that I have my mind wrapped around each move before I attempt the workout in the morning.
So instead I did the 30 Day Shred DVD for the first time. It was really tough – a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, even though I only did level 1.
It’s been a little over 24 hours since I did that workout, and I’m so sore! I’m feeling it mostly in my core and legs. It was only 30 minutes long, but it was definitely time well spent, as I’m pretty got an amazing workout in.
I’m going to take today as a rest day, and go back to my usual boot camp workouts tomorrow, to let my body recover a little.
Does life ever get in the way and make you re-arrange your workout schedule? Do you have any tips for staying on track?
Love 30 Day Shred. It really is so much harder than I expected to. Way to get in that workout. That’s why I try to emphasize the flexibility – so even if it’s not “the plan” you still get in something and work hard. Way to go!
