Euro 2012 Logo June 19 2012

It’s a sad day. Italy, the team I was rooting for to win Euro 2012 lost this afternoon to Spain.

I ended up watching the game at a pub with a friend. She’s not into soccer at all, but agreed to go to lunch with me somewhere where we could watch the game.

Unfortunately the pub didn’t have the sound on for the game, so I wasn’t able to hear any of the calls or what the commentators were saying, but it didn’t really look like Italy deserved to win today. Spain was simply the better team.

Seeing the Italian team on the field after the game ended was heartbreaking. You could see the sadness and disappointment in their faces. I can’t even imagine the kind of pressure both teams were under.

Even though my team lost, it was great to be able to spend time with my friend talking. I can’t remember the last time the two of us hung out one on one.

For lunch I ended up getting a veggie burger. Usually it wouldn’t be something that I would order, but it came with guacamole and hummus on it – two of my favourite things. As soon as I saw that, I knew I was going to order it. Between the soccer game and talking I totally forgot to take a picture of it. Whoops.
