Over Christmas I went out for coffee with a friend. We’ve been hanging out a lot more this year, but I still only get to spend time with her once every month or two.
We were talking about how the last year was for both of us, then we started talking about how we thought 2012 was going to look. I told her about my 30 by 30 list. She asked me if they were things I was definitely going to do, or if they were things that if they happened I would be happy with. I told her if they happened that would be great, but I won’t feel bad if I don’t do them. I figure if they don’t happen before I turn 30, they’ll still happen at some point.
Then she said “Make goals for yourself. Make these things happen. You’ll feel so good about yourself when you turn 30 and look back. There are things that I wish I had done before I turned 30.”
So I’m going to take her advice. I’m going to do my absolute best to make sure that everything on my list happens before my next birthday. I’m going to make them a priority. There’s one thing on my list that I’ve wanted to do forever, literally since I was in university (I graduated 5ish years ago, so it’s been at least 7 or 8 years), but it still hasn’t happened yet. It’s easy to say one day, but really that’s just an excuse.
I’m going to do all the things on my list, and it’s going to feel amazing.
